New WCA Project in Tur-Abdin - Sustaining the Aramean Village School of DeirQubbe
Only two Aramean families remain in DeirQubbe. They are struggling to preserve their village because neighboring Kurds are trying to chase them away and seize their lands. They deserve our full support in this concerning matter and in educating its children to be educated in their Aramaic mother tongue.
Therefore, WCA is delighted — and grateful to myaqro Aziz Maroge from Germany for his generous contribution — to support Malfono (Teacher) Afrem and his 8 pupils for at least 1 full year to sustain this village school or class.
West of DeirQubbe, towards Midyat, are villages like Kerboran, ‘Arbaye, Beth Qustan (Bequsyone), Hah, Dayro du Slibo, Zaz and Kfarze. South of Deirqubbe are villages like Beth Debe, Midun, Bsorino, Sare and Kfarbe (Fofyath). Next time a WCA delegation visits Tur-Abdin, we will make sure to visit DeirQubbe again.
