Traditional Easter Celebration in Tur-Abdin, Southeast Turkey, 19-26 April
In celebrating Passion Week and Easter, SUA offers them the chance to experience a spiritual and cultural pilgrimage to Tur-Abdin and its surroundings in Southeast Turkey. In reality, for most Arameans who originate from this ancient region this unique experience is no less than the pilgrimage to the Holy City of Jerusalem in Israel.
Mor Gabriel Monastery recently lost two crucial court cases. Many villages may lose millions of square meters of land; newly constructed buildings in Beth Zabday/Azekh may be demolished. Arameans there are insecure and fearful about their future: does Tur-Abdin have a future? Therefore, this year SUA will celebrate Easter with the local Bishops and communities of Adiyaman, Mardin and Midyat/Tur-Abdin to give them moral & financial support! Join SUA in supporting them.
