Federation of Alevi Foundations in Turkey, express support for Conference on Syria's Christians
One day before the start of the conference, titled: "Christians: The Challenge of Speaking with One Voice," the WCA has been receiving many supportive messages from different civil society and religious organisations in and outside of Syria. One of them came from the President of the Federation of Alevi Foundations ("AVF") in Turkey, Mr. Dogan Bermek, who expressed his solidarity and support to the historic conference which is taking place in Geneva today. Dear Mr. Messo, As Alevi organizations in Turkey, we wholeheartedly wish success to Conference of Christians in Syria which will be held in Geneva on the 8th of May 2014. We wish and hope that the chaos in Syria comes to an end quickly and hope that the traditional peaceful and friendly life may again be restructured in the area. Alevis and Christians of Syria are heavily and deadly suffering the civil war in Syria, they are being subject to inhuman levels of pain and enduring irrevocable losses. We blame all of those who are using the name of Islam, in their inhuman and brutal oppressive attacks and crimes towards innocent people in Syria and other places. We would like to repeat once again that those criminals have no religious or human relation with Muslim religion which accepts all human creatures of God as brothers and sisters. As our İmam Ali said 1400 years ago: “People are siblings either by their religion or by their creation. Develop in your heart the feeling of love for your people and let it be the source of kindliness and blessing to them.” We hope this important conference will help humanity in rebuilding the roads to peace and fraternity in Syria again. May our God bless all of the attendants, may our God‘s mercy be with innocent people of Syria and God’s compassion be on those who lost their lives in this bloody, criminal and disgraceful chaos. Kindest regards,
