The WCA Syria Helpline -- now available for Syria related issues!
11 February 2013 - The Syria Crisis is a huge burden. Many worried Aramean (Syriac) Christians from all over the world have turned to the WCA and its Member Federations, especially with questions pertaining to refugees outside Syria and how to assist our people in Syria.
In order to provide better assistance to our people, it has been decided to set up The WCA Syria Helpline -- a promise made during a recent Suryoyo Sat LIVE program on Syria and already announced in our last Newsletter. Those who wish to contact the WCA or any of its Member Federations concerning Syria related questions, can contact:
Ms. Sarah Bakir who is based at the WCA Office in Hengelo, The Netherlands, at +31 619 570 671 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
The helpline is reachable during work days and hours (9am - 5pm), but for our people in need Sarah will try her utmost to be available 24/7. Needless to say, the WCA and its Member Federations are not a governmental immigration board and they cannot give away residence permits or anything of this sort. However, through The WCA Syria Helpline we are providing our people with much needed and asked for services like:
- Summarizing in writing the otherwise undocumented experiences of internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees and other victims in war-torn Syria;
- Addressing governments, humanitarian aid societies, human rights organizations, etc. with the purpose of informing them what kind of urgent help is needed and in which areas, especially in Syria;
- Composing, if needed, official letters and the like for specific cases to be raised at political levels;
- Giving concerned relatives or refugees who contact us consultation regarding international law on refugees.
Sarah is one of the young and energetic women who has done her internship with the WCA in 2010 and has, since then remained active within this United Nations NGO, see http://wca-ngo.org/about-us/internship-wca. If you have pressing questions pertaining to Syria, then do not wait to contact The WCA Syria Helpline. For Sarah will bring your questions and issues to the immediate attention of the WCA and its Member Federations.
