Re: Plea to address still kidnapped archbishops and seek political solution to war in Syria
Distinguished Excellencies:
In reference to tomorrow’s briefing of the UNSC in New York City by the Syrian Coalition President Mr. Ahmad Al-Assi Al-Jarba and a senior delegation of Coalition representatives on the ongoing war in Syria, we request your immediate attention and assistance in relation to the next two critical issues:
Letter to the Representatives at the EU Foreign Affairs Council regarding the Arms Embargo to Syria (24 May 2013)
Friday, 24 May 2013
Re: Urgent call by Syrian Christians to uphold the weapons embargo to Syria
Your Excellency,
We refer to the upcoming European Union meeting to be held this Monday 27 May 2013 in Brussels, which will discuss the current EU weapons embargo to Syria. The great majority of Syrian people are vehemently against the Syrian war and plead with international community to put the pressure on relevant parties to solve this war through peaceful means, not through an increase in weapons supplies to any party, including the rebel movement.

CHRISTIAN LEADERS STILL MISSING: APPEAL TO SECURITY COUNCIL AND KIDNAPPERS
Following the abduction of two Christian Leaders from the Aleppo region of Syria, we are no closer now than we were 72 hours ago to discovering their whereabouts. Again unconfirmed reports about their release at 4 a.m. this morning have been released by the media. The World Council of Arameans (Syriacs), a United Nations NGO, pleads with both kidnappers and the United Nations Security Council (“SC”) to immediately find a way to resolve this catastrophe which will have major implications for the future of native Christianity in Syria.
WCA LETTER: THE FORGOTTEN PLIGHT OF THE INDIGENOUS ARAMEANS (SYRIACS) OF SYRIA (16 July 2013)
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
According to international law, the Aramean (Syriac) people and their endangered Aramaic (Syriac) language are indigenous to Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon, where they are still struggling hard for survival and for appreciation and official recognition as an ancient Semitic people with their distinct (read: non-Arab, non-Turkish, non-Kurdish, non-Muslim) identity, language, literature and religion.

Collection Statements by world Leaders condemning Abduction Bishops in Syria
Collection of Statements by Government and Church Leaders condemning Abduction of Two Archbishops in Syria: The WCA asks for more statements, above all from the UN Security Council!
Since the abduction of the Syriac and Greek Orthodox Archbishops in Syria, whose kidnappers and whereabouts are still unknown, several senior Government officials and Church leaders have strongly denounced the abduction. Below the WCA has collected the most important statements known to us. Until the Archbishops are freed, however, we continue to ask for more statements and action to be taken!
Human Traffickers Exploiting Syria War
THE PLIGHT OF SYRIA’S REFUGEES EXPLOITED BY HUMAN TRAFFICKERS:
A NEGLECTED PHENOMENON OF SYRIAN WAR
A Christian family’s attempt to flee from war-torn Syria resulted in the drowning of their five-year-old child at sea off Turkey’s coast. This is another tragic example of the desperation of Christian families who have found themselves in the unsafe arms of human traffickers, especially from Turkey. The WCA calls for attention to this issue.

APPEAL TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY:
TWO ARCHBISHOPS IN SYRIA STILL ABDUCTED!
The World Council of Arameans (Syriacs) (“WCA”) refers to the abduction case of two Archbishops from the Syriac Orthodox and Melkite (Greek Orthodox) Churches who, on Monday 22 April, were abducted by a foreign rebel group close to their metropolitan sees in Aleppo, Syria.
